The design, construction and testing of a digital microcontroller-based control system for a miniature mass spectrometer is presented. Equipment and software for testing of field emission and field ionization ion sources for mass spectrometer applications are also described. A testing system for organic light emitting diodes is presented which is based on the same microcontroller platform as the mass spectrometer system. Both systems connect to a PC for control and data acqusition, and custom microcontroller firmware and PC client software have been developed. |
