Abstract/Summary:
Grid computing has become an important tool in applications that require large-scale, scalable computing resources. Several grid computing frameworks already exist for academic and industrial applications. However, these frameworks often prove to be hard to adopt in small organizations. This research aims at designing and developing a new, open grid-computing framework that is specially suited for small to medium sized businesses. The new framework is called ODASCI for Open Distributed and Scalable Computing Infrastructure. ODASCI is designed to be simple, flexible, scalable, and accessible and to be able to support computing nodes on multiple platforms. ODASCI can be quickly and easily deployed in any organization to bring in the full power of grid computing. While providing the standard computing services expected from a grid computing framework, ODASCI can be easily customized (through a set of APIs) to support diverse business requirements. ODASCI's ease of adoption and deployment, its power and flexibility, and its ability to incorporate complex business rules make it a compelling means of fulfilling the computational needs of small to medium sized enterprises.
