Abstract/Summary:
Cislunar channel is the most likely communication link that National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) is interested in these days. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is running experiments to find the easiest way of communication over this channel. They have developed Interplanetary Overlay Network (ION), which is a software distribution package. It is also an implementation of an already developed Delay-Tolerant Networking (DTN) architecture. The development of ION inside space flights is reducing the cost and risk in mission communication. In this thesis, ION is tested over Licklider Transmission Protocol (LTP) operating with unreliable User Datagram Protocol (UDP). For the performance evaluation, we tried to adjust different tuning parameters of LTP such as Number of Sessions (NOS) and Nominal Block Sizes (NBS). We also use different Bit Error Rates (BERs) for different communication channels. We also use different window sizes according to channel capacity to find the best performance of ION over LTPCL/UDP.
