Abstract/Summary:
In today's information society, the life of knowledge is becoming shorter than ever. What is cutting edge today may become obsolete in the near future. Furthermore, with economic globalization and the evolution of technology, life-long learning is no longer a catch phrase. Companies feel the pressure to secure a more cost-effective way to train employees, because they require well-trained and more skilled employees to gain business success in the competitive knowledge-based economic market.;In this thesis, I give a review of the existing literature on the background knowledge and the future trends of corporate E-learning, as well as some researchers' quality-control frameworks. Some learning theories and Human Computer Interaction concepts are discussed as well. Based on this fundamental background knowledge, I present a holistic framework from pedagogical, software usability, technological, and service/support points of view, to contribute to the research area of the quality control of corporate E-learning systems.;The intention of this quality control framework is to try to provide a broad coverage of issues in evaluating an E-learning environment, in helping an organization choose the best suitable E-learning product. E-learning developers may use the framework as a guideline to help them develop a better E-learning system. In the thesis, I also proposed an evaluation mechanism and a detailed usage of the framework by using the very popular office tool, Excel Spread Sheet.;Although the quality control framework is in a corporate learning environment in this thesis, it can be extended easily to evaluate other E-learning products, such as university and college E-learning environments, by simply adding other evaluation criteria and adjusting weights to each criterion in the framework.;With the advent of web technologies, more and more companies are taking advantage of E-learning to train employees in order to lower their training costs and so the E-learning market is becoming a rapidly growing business. Thus, it is time for corporate training managers and E-learning providers to focus on creating the highest quality of E-learning experience by utilizing a quality control framework in a corporate E-learning environment.
