Abstract/Summary:
Knowing your opponents' next move in efforts to gain a competitive advantage is highly valued not only in business, but also in athletics. Any athletic coach, whether coaching on the high school or the professional level, spends a great deal of time attempting to achieve this advantage. One of the practices necessary to achieve this advantage in sports is called scouting. In the professional and major college levels, a tremendous amount of money is available for this activity, through the hiring of additional staff or the purchasing of software. At the high school level, the budget for additional staff or software is rather limited. These tasks are often performed manually by a small group of individuals. In this thesis an open source automated scouting solution tailored for the high school football market is presented. The application is successfully tested and posted on an open source web site.
