Abstract/Summary:
In this thesis, a high performance FTL (Fourier Transform Lens) with high SBWP (Space-Bandwidth Product), long EFL, large input and output, relatively short length, and low cost was successfully aligned in the laboratory. This FTL system is designed using COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) lenses, which have the advantage of economy and immediate acquisition compared to custom lenses. This experiment also proved that a 4F-correlator consisting of COTS lenses can achieve high performance with a low cost.;The properties of FTL lenses, y-y¯ diagram and SBWP are introduced first in this thesis. The radii and thicknesses of the lenses were measured, and CodeV was used to analyze and re-optimize the system. After the system was aligned in the laboratory, a Zygo interferometer was used to measure the wavefront aberration of the aligned system. By decentering certain lenses, which were chosen by modeling in CodeV, the performance of the system was finally improved dramatically to a high image quality.
