In recent years, business model has attracted extensive attention and discussion in academia and business management. In the academic world, research results related to business model have increased year by year;in business management, many managers have also begun to pay attention to the business model of the enterprise, and agree that the suitability of the business model is closely related to the enterprise.Although business model is not an emerging concept, the current research on it is not enough and perfect.Firstly, there is no consensus on the definition and elements of the business model.Secondly, the current researches mostly focus on a specific enterprise by using case analysis but pay little attention on traditional industry like retail and as for the method, there are too few papers combined with empirical analysis. Finally,in terms of the impact of business model on corporate performance, although some scholars have carried out researches on the relationship between them, when they calculated the enterprise performance,no selection has been made in the evaluation indicators, and there is little researches on the performance comparison of enterprises with different business models. After reading and analyzing the relevant papers on business model,we can find that it is generally defined and classified from the three perspectives: profitability, value, and transaction, and all of them admit that the final target of business model is to make highest value through value creation. Therefore, this paper determines to classify the business model in the customer's value perspective. Then, the paper select candidate indicators from four aspects: profitable capability, operating capability, solvency, and development ability.Through theoretical analysis of the impact of business model on enterprise performance, the hypothesis that business models have an impact on enterprise performance is proposed. The third chapter is to classify China's retail listed companies into 33 categories, and uses principal component analysis and cluster analysis to objectively select representative financial indicators, and use factor analysis to calculate performance scores. The fourth chapter is the empirical testing part. After discussing the applicability of the test method, the non-parametric test method is used to empirically verify that the business model does have an impact on corporate performance. The fifth chapter compares the scores of performance according to two perspectives: the whole business models and different indicators under the five classification. In the end,the paper draws two conclusions: the first one is that the business models of listed companies in China's retail industry are various;the second one is that the best structure and function of the business model lies in the overall coordination of the elements. On this basis, the paper puts forward two suggestions for retail industry: the first one is enterprises should improve customer's value;the other is that improving the overall coupling of business models is the key to improving enterprise performance other than a certain element of innovation.
