Y company is one of the three major telecommunication operators in China.The key department that generates the majority of the income in Y company is the departments serving government and enterprise.In these departments,the staff are generally called customer managers,which are led by a team leader.Under the influence of corporate culture and other factors,Y company has a high awareness of service,and its team leaders also show the characteristics of servant leadership.Empirical research on servant leadership shows that these leaders with servant leadership are willing to create opportunities for their employees,treat them with sincerity,trust and respect,and devote themselves to help the them serve the customers.Servant leadership has a positive correlation with employee’s performance.The customer managers with initiative personality are willing to find their customer,which generates the majority of the company’s income.Studies of proactive personality show that individuals use positive,active and initiative work style to cope with the difficulties at work and achieve their goals.Therefore,Y company tends to assign the staff with proactive personality to the position of customer manager.The present study explores the influence of servant leadership on the work performance of customer managers at a branch company of Y mobile company,andintroduces proactive personality as a moderator.Based on literature review,a statistical model was constructed.Research variables were determined based on one-on-one interviews with three team leaders and five customer managers.The servant leadership questionnaire were distributed to all customer managers,and the employee proactive personality questionnaire and performance questionnaire were distributed to all team leaders.103 effective questionnaires were collected after one-on one matching,deletion of sensitive information,and exclusion of invalid data.Data was analyzed in SPSS23.0 to verify the model proposed.The conclusions are described as followed.(1)Servant leadership and its sub-dimension emotional comfort and persuasion has a positive impact on the work performance and its sub-dimension task performance,relationship performance,learning performance and innovation performance.The altruism,intelligence and social responsibility of servant leadership has a positive impact on the employee’s performance and its sub-dimensions task performance,relationship performance and learning performance,with no significant impact on the sub-dimension innovation performance of employee’s work performance.(2)Initiative personality has a positive impact on employee’s work performance and its sub-dimensions task performance,relationship performance,innovation performance and learning performance.(3)The higher the degree of initiative personality is,the stronger the positive impact of servant leadership on employee’s job performance is.This study provides significant insights for Y company in talent selection,training and allocation of employees to the departmentsserving government and enterprise.Employees with servant leadership are suitable for customer manager position and serves as a team leader.Employees with proactive personality are suitable for customer manager position.A team leader with high servant leadership score and employees with proactive personality may acchieve high job performance,while a team leader without servant leadership leading employees with initiative personality may not achieve the optimal job performance.
