According to the theory of industrial division of labor, the division and integration of manufacturing industry and service industry is an important internal logic of a country's industrial efficiency improvement and structural upgrade.China has experienced rapid growth in the manufacturing industry over the past three decades. While expanding in scale, the quality of its development cannot be ignored.According to the theory of the relationship between manufacturing and service industry development, productive service industry plays a key role in promoting the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing value chain. It is an important perspective for us to understand and think about promoting China's international competitive advantage. With the acceleration of economic globalization,China's manufacturing industry is developing rapidly in scale and the international competitive advantage is increasing. But there are also many developing dilemmas like unreasonable industrial structure, insufficient R&D capability, and low added value of products. In recent years, with the rise of labor costs and the constraints of domestic resources and the environment, these dilemmas have become more and more prominent. How to promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing value chain to further increase its international competitiveness has become an urgent problem to be solved. While the global value chain division system of the manufacturing industry is deepening and the application of information and communication technologies is widespread, the service industry and the manufacturing industry continue to penetrate and integrate. The intermediate input of productive services is increasingly important for optimizing the structure of the global value chain of manufacturing, and it has gradually become an important driving force for promoting the upgrading of manufacturing industries all over the world. Then, what impact does the intermediate input of productive service industry have on the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry? What is the impact mechanism? Are these experiences and theories applicable to China? As an important part of the productive service industry, the financial industry is also a special productive service industry. How does the financial industry affect the international competitive advantage of the manufacturing industry? This paper will analyze its impact mechanism one by one and concentrate on the development of China'sproductive service industry and manufacturing industry, examining the interactive development relationship between them, and verify the effect.First of all, this paper sorts out and summarizes the relevant literature and theories about the productive service industry to promote the international competitive advantage of manufacturing.Secondly, the paper introduces the case of developed and developing countries, giving an intuitive understanding of the international pattern of manufacturing and productive service industry development.Specifically, the paper explains the impact of the financial industry on manufacturing international trade.Thirdly,a detailed analysis of the development status of China's manufacturing and productive services industry is given.Next, using the monopolistic competition model as the theoretical framework, the paper analyzes the three influencing mechanisms of specialization, differentiation and knowledge intensification of the productive service industry, and specifically analyzes the impact of the intermediate inputs of these productive services on the manufacturing value chain. Finally, using the 2000-2014 World Input-Output Table of the EU WIOD2016 database and the panel data of the relevant statistical yearbooks of China, the RCA index is calculated using the value-added trade accounting method as a measure of international competitive advantage, and the fixed effect panel threshold regression model with the technological innovation index as the threshold variable is used to measure the impact of the intermediate input of the productive service industry on the international competitive advantage of China's manufacturing industry. The results show that:(1)The intermediate input of productive service industries have significant positive impact on the international competitive advantage in China's manufacturing industry.Additionally, the model has a single threshold structure, which means the positive impact of the intermediate service input in manufacturing industries with technical innovation level above the threshold value are greater than those manufacturing industries with technical innovation level below the threshold value;(2)Technological innovation, government regulation and foreign direct investment can significantly enhance the international competitive advantage of China's manufacturing industry;(3)Capital deepening is not conducive to the improvement of China's manufacturing industry's international competitive advantage.Based on the above theoretical analysis and empirical research, combined with the development status of China's productive service industry and manufacturing industry, the following paper puts forward the following policy recommendations:First, relax the market access mechanism and optimize the internal structure of the productive service industry.Second, strengthen basic education and skills training, cultivating innovative talents.third, develop high-tech manufacturing industries and increase intermediate service input in high-tech manufacturing industries.fourth, focus on the needs of the local market and enhance the core competitiveness of export manufacturing companies.
