In the context of the transformation of the global economy from a manufacturing economy to a knowledge and service economy,the job characteristics once again arouse a strong interest of scholars.The rise of team work also made the social job characteristics other than the traditional core job characteristics attract the attention of scholars.Job characteristics can effectively motivate employees by work tasks,thus affecting their job engagement and job performance.However,due to the influence of the division of tasks in the project team and project members themselves,the job characteristics of project members and the particularity of their feeling of the impact of job characteristics deserve special attention.The manager of G company hopes to achieve internal motivation for project members through work,and project members also hope to meet their internal needs in work.Based on the theory of job characteristics,this study examines job characteristics not only by the core job characteristics from autonomy,task identity,skill variety,task significance,and feedback on the job itself,but also by the the social job characteristics from feedback by others and dealing with others,and explores how it affects job engagement and job performance in G company.This paper analyzes the situation of project members' job characteristics in G company via members interviews,the significant difference of job characteristics among project members by age,education,position,etc.in G company via variance analysis,as well as the result that job characteristics of skill variety,task significance,feedback on job itself,feedback by others and dealing with others have a positive relationship with employee's job engagement and job performance,and job engagement mediates the relationship between job characteristics and job performance via regression analysis.In general,the job characteristics of project members in G company are affected by a variety of factors,and the effects of each dimension of job characteristics are different.Finally,supported by relevant research results and in combination with the actual work situation of project members in G company,this paper puts forward corresponding management suggestions for improving the job engagement and job performance of project members in G company.
