Manufacturing servitization is the production of the third scientific and technological revolution,an inevitable outcome of the international division of labor, and an important way to improve the competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry and achieve high-quality economic development in China. However,China's traditional manufacturing industry is large but not strong, and it is still at a low level in the global value chain. It has obvious gaps with developed countries in terms of independent innovation capability, resource utilizati on efficiency, informationization level, quality and efficiency. The task of transformation and upgrading is urgent and arduous.Manufacturing servitization has become an important way to transform and upgrade the manufacturing industry. Therefore,it is significant to study the mechanism of drving force to manufacturing servitization for promoting the service industry and achieving high-quality economic development. This paper first reviews the theoretical and empirical research on manufacturing servitization at home and abroad, and has a overall understanding of the relevant research status.Secondly, measure the level of manufacturing servitization in various industries and provinces in China by the input-output method. It is found that the level of manufacturing servitization has dropped first and then rised from 2000 to 2015.The servitization level of technology-intensive manufacturing is higher than that of capital-intensive manufacturing, and the level of labor-intensive manufacturing industries is lowest. The servitization level of manufacturing service in the eastern, western and central regions decrease in turn. Finally, through the panel regression model, the mechanism of manufacturing servi tization is explored from the national, industry and regional levels. The results show that: from a national perspective, the increase in the revenue of service factors has promoted the development of manufacturing servitization. When the service cost is high,it cannot attract manufacturing enterprises to implement service transformation strategy. When the service cost is further reduced, the level of manufacturing servitization can be promoted.Technology instead service at first, then it will improve the level of servitizition in the later stage.Competition will hinder manufacturing servitization. From the perspective of industries, the benefits and costs of service factors are the common driving force of the three types of industries. The role of technology is “U” type.Market competition hinders the servitizition of capital-intensive industries, but has no significant effect on labor-intensive and capital-intensive industries. In terms of regions, the driving force of servitizition is also different in the three major sectors.the power of the eastern region includes service revenue, service cost and technological progress. The central region is affected by the positive effect of technological progress and the “U” type of service cost.In the western region, the reduced service cost can improve servitization.Market competition has not become the driving force for each region. Finally, based on the empirical results and the status quo of China's manufacturing industry,it puts forward policy recommendations: improve the service awareness of enterprise managers, imp rove the market environment, strengthen the ability of independent innovation, and some recommendations for different industries and regions.According to the empirical results and the status quo of China's manufacturing industry,it puts forward policy recommendations to improve the service awareness of enterprises, improve the market environment, strengthen the ability of independent innovation, and recommendations to promote the manufacturing in different industries and different regions.
