| The regional differentiation pattern of China's economic development level hinders the flow and agglomeration of factors among cities,resulting in the phenomenon of obvious regional imbalance and spatial difference in innovation efficiency level.The scale and distribution of cities in the eastern region have been constantly optimized,and a large number of innovative resources,such as talents,capital and technology,have been continuously gathered.As a result,the eastern region has become an urban collective with strong innovation vitality,which has vigorously promoted economic and social development.However,in contrast,the development of central and western regions is relatively lagging behind,and the urbanization process within the region is uneven,which makes it difficult for innovation elements to flow and gather effectively among cities.It hinders the formation of regional spatial functional division of labor,and makes the development of innovation subjects not ideal.As a result of urbanization,the evolution of urban scale distribution of economic activities will affect the relationship between regional cities and thus affect the efficiency of regional innovation.Based on the above understanding,this paper focuses on the research idea of "literature collation--theoretical construction--empirical test--policy Suggestions".First for the existing literature on regional innovation system,regional innovation and the research about urban scale and regional innovation based on agglomeration effect,this paper makes a review,and then builds the theoretical logic between urban size distribution and regional innovation efficiency,and analyzes the transmission mechanism of connecting urban size distribution and regional innovation efficiency.Then this paper builds the measurement model of urban size distribution and regional innovation efficiency to identify the proposition and to identify the influence of the urban size distribution on the regional innovation efficiency,eventually to put forward the policy suggestions on promoting the development of China's regional innovation.The biggest innovation of this paper lies in creatively incorporating the urban scale distribution into the analysis of the impact of regional innovation efficiency,and the following valuable conclusions are obtained.The research has confirmed that :(1)the regional innovation efficiency value in China is lower than 1,which indicates that technical non-efficiency factors exist obviously,and regional imbalance and spatial difference are significant.After cluster analysis of the regions,a new type of eastern and western division is formed,and it is found that there are some differences between the innovation and economic development of provinces in China.(2)for the whole country,there is a significant inverted u-shaped relationship between urban size distribution and regional innovation efficiency.The concentration ratio of the optimal first-place city corresponding to the highest point of the u-shaped curve is 0.353.The urban scale distribution in the eastern region is only negatively correlated with the regional innovation efficiency,while the urban scale distribution in the central region and the western region has a significant inverted u-shaped relationship with the regional innovation efficiency.The concentration ratio of the optimal first-place city corresponding to the highest point of the u-shaped curve is 0.355 and 0.378 respectively.On this basis,this paper puts forward the keys to optimize of urban size distribution.On the one hand,it is to dredge the channel of polarization effect and diffusion effect in the process of regional innovation development,to break the barrier of the intervention in the free flow of regional innovation elements.On the other hand,it is to deepen the regional division of space function and format the differences and hierarchy of spatial agglomeration.Eventually it can maximize innovation element agglomeration efficiency and achieve regional innovation continuously optimized. |
