"Expanding foreign trade, fostering new trade formats and new models, and promoting the construction of a powerful trading country" is the basic principle put forward by the Nineteenth National Congress report for China’s transformation from a big trading country to a powerful trading country. To achieve this goal,we must give full play to the important role of cities in economic and trade. However, the unbalanced urban development in China is very prominent, and the level of urban trade development is also quite different, which hinders the further development of China’s export trade to a certain extent. The agglomeration economy plays a key role in the analysis of many factors that cause this problem. In the past, scholars focused their research on the impact of agglomeration on export.First, they focused on the micro-enterprise level and examined the export behavior of enterprises, but few on the meso-city level.Second, they focused on the impact of agglomeration on export, while ignoring the sequencing effect mechanism.Third, they did not consider the role of enterprise productivity heterogeneity in the process of agglomeration affecting urban exports. Therefore, this paper takes urban export as the research object, and incorporates the heterogeneous factors of enterprise into the new new economic geography model to explore and characterize the impact of heterogeneous enterprise agglomeration on urban export, and explores the impact of heterogeneous enterprise agglomeration on urban export by using the Industrial Enterprise Database of China from 2003 to 2009 and the panel data of 192 cities in China, and using simultaneous equation model and threshold model. The impact of urban exports. The results show that:(1)The heterogeneity of enterprise has a significant positive effect on urban productivity in the eastern, middle and northeastern regions, but not on the western regions;it also has a significant positive impact on the productivity of large and medium cities.(2)Manufacturing industry specialization agglomeration plays a positive role in the productivity improvement of mid-western regions and small and medium-sized cities, and inter-industry diversification agglomeration has a significant positive impact on the productivity of eastern, northeastern regions and large and small-scale cities.(3)The heterogeneity of enterprise and specialized agglomeration of manufacturing industry have greatly promoted the expansion of the export scale of cities in the eastern and mid-western regions.Diversified agglomeration plays a positive role in the export of eastern regions.(4)When considering the heterogeneous factors of enterprise, there is a threshold for the impact of agglomeration effect and ranking effect on urban exports, and the impact of agglomeration effect and ranking effect on urban exports have a temporal sequence.(5)In addition to the eastern region and large-scale cities, transport costs have a significant inhibitory effect on urban exports.Paying attention to the rational planning and adjustment of regional industrial policies, improving the mechanism of talent flow and the construction of social infrastructure have important policy implications for the development of export trade in cities and even countries.Due to the poor availability of databases and the complicated data processing process, the current study of urban exports in this paper is limited to the total export volume index, and is lack of inspection on the types of export products and product quality. Therefore, the next research plan of this paper will be based on the above two aspects,so as to enrich the research on the impact of agglomeration on urban exports. |
