Relevant data show that China has become the world’s largest gold producer since 2007 and the world’s largest gold consumer since 2013.With the gradual opening of the domestic gold market,precious metal investment represented by gold is becoming more and more popular with modern investors.Attracted by the huge profits in the precious metal investment market,major commercial banks have been carrying out precious metal related business.As an important participant in all kinds of financial markets,commercial banks provide diversified gold investment varieties and comprehensive financial services for the real economy through active participation and product innovation in precious metal trading markets at home and abroad.Nowadays,precious metals business has become an important part of commercial banks’financial market business.It is also a new field in which commercial banks provide products and services for companies and retail customersThis article is divided into seven chapters.Firstly,through reading and summarizing the views of scholars at home and abroad on precious metals business of commercial banks,and fully analyzing the general situation of precious metals business of domestic commercial banks,this paper expounds the important significance of developing precious metals business of commercial banks to enhance intermediary business income and promote business transformation.Secondly,through the analysis of the operation data of M Branch of Bank B,it is found that there are some problems in the development of precious metals business,such as low completion rate of indicators,low income of intermediate business formed by precious metals business,and the main causes of the problems are single business model,lack of business talents,and large differences in business development between outlets.In order to improve the present situation of precious metal business of M Branch of B Bank and explore suitable business development strategies,SWOT matrix analysis method is used to analyze in detail the internal advantages and disadvantages and external opportunities and challenges of M Branch in developing precious metal business.Finally,according to the SWOT matrix analysis results and the actual situation of B Bank M Branch,this paper puts forward some corresponding strategies for its business development,including optimizing the precious metal business management mode,improving the innovation ability of precious metal products,emphasizing the development of precious metal derivatives trading,constructing precious metal business marketing mode,improving the cultivation of market and customer capacity,and strengthening precious metal products.Business risk prevention and risk management capabilities,strengthen market risk management and operational risk management.Chapter 7 summarizes the whole article,points out the shortcomings of the article,and analyses the practicability of the article.
