The Influence Of Development Zone Policies In The Process Of Agglomeration Of China's Manufacturing Industry

Industrial agglomeration development is an important feature of modern economic growth.Since the reform and opening up in 1978,China’s manufacturing industry has shown a mode of agglomeration development,and many industrial clusters have formed in the eastern coastal areas.The research objectives of this paper include three aspects.The first one is to sort out the domestic and foreign research on the factors affecting the agglomeration of manufacturing.The Second is to sort out the theoretical factors affecting the degree of China’s manufacturing agglomeration,and to theoretically analyze its mechanism of action.Thirdly,to explore the impact of government behavior on China’s manufacturing agglomeration by the empirical analysis,especially the development zone policy.This paper analyzes the location factors in traditional geo-economics,the economies of scale in the new economic geography and Marshall’s externalities,and the influence and role of government behaviors in the process of industrial agglomeration in China.Based on this,this paper uses the 2003-2012 industrial enterprise database and input-output table and other data information to design the indicators of various influencing factors,and uses the DO method to measure the industrial space agglomeration level of the three-digit code manufacturing industry,and establishes a fixed effect model.It is the first-time r to conduct empirical research on the factors affecting China’s manufacturing industry,especially the impact mechanism of the development zone policy on industrial space agglomeration based on the three-digit code segmentation industry layer.The reason why we choose the DO method is that it is not affected by the artificial spatial scale selection,and meets the five conditions of the seven conditions proposed by Combes and Overman(2004)that the industrial agglomeration measure should satisfy.In a conclusion,the DO method is more perfect than other methods.The empirical results show that the level of China’s manufacturing agglomeration has gradually increased in recent years,and natural endowment constraints have a significant negative impact on the level of manufacturing agglomeration.The knowledge spillover effect has a significant positi’ve impact on the level of manufacturing agglomeration.And the control of state-owned capital and the establishment of target industries in the development zone has a significant negative impact on the level of manufacturing agglomeration.Finally,this paper combines the status quo of China’s manufacturing agglomeration development,and puts forward some suggestions to help promote the further agglomeration of China’s manufacturing industry.
