In a world where the corporate sector is being faced with increasing turnover rate, organizations keep losing and replacing their workers.Attracting and retaining valued employees has become of an increasing concern for the hospitality industry. While employers seek answers for this, various HR managers in the hotel industry have employed motivation, and higher pay levels,in minimizing labor turnover in the hotel industry. However the problem still remains.Employees keep leaving their organizations despite their higher salaries and excess benefits they receive at work.Studies have shown that employees'intention to leave their organization is intrinsic and is based on the employees'personal assessment on the value of their job to them.Examining and understanding career management practices as a significant tool for employee retention was the core emphasis of the study. The proposed model was,"hotel career management" could lead to "career satisfaction" through "career competency",and,"career satisfaction" could further lead to employee "intention to stay" in their workplace. Results from the Structural Equation Modeling showed two aspects of hotel career management:"Career appraisal and orientation",and "career training and development".It was seen that the effect of" career appraisal and orientation" on employee "career competency" was significant, while" career training and development" was not. However," career training and development" had a positive direct significant effect on;" career satisfaction",and a direct positive effect on employee" intention to stay" as well which was also significant. Results also proved a positive connection between "career competency",and "career satisfaction",and;"career satisfaction" and employee" intention to stay".The study concluded that, the "training and development"dimension of career management should be carefully looked at,and practiced effectively by hotel employers and Human Resource managers in the hotel industry in Ghana,so as to enhance the career satisfaction of hotel employees in Ghana, and induce their intention to stay in their place of work.Effective career management therefore could serve as a significant tool to retaining hotel employees in the near future.
