The Tough Situation And Solutions Study On Entrepreneurship Of College Students In Wuxi

The number of college graduates has been increasing on a year-over-year basis since the college expansion policy started.With the increasing scale of college graduates,the employment pressure becomes the main problem,not only for the students about to leave the ivory tower,but also for the whole society who has to deal with the consequences.In order to solve this problem,the government,along with the universities,built the employment platform and widened employment channels.However,these measures were not enough to get every graduate employed,so the government strongly encourages and supports the graduates to start up business by themselves.The startups are solutions to unemployment problems,as well as opportunities to technological innovation.The government introduced a series of policies to help college graduates with their own startups.The first one is to open more courses in universities to introduce basic business ideas and knowledge to students.The second one is to offer professional training to those students who have already had intentions.The third one is to offer financial aids including subsidies,loan guarantee and tax preferences.In the past few years,the employment pressure in Wuxi city kept increasing.The local government combined the national and provincial policies with particular case of the local graduates,and set a series of policies to help college graduates starting up their own business.With the implementation of these policies and the highly entrepreneurial climate,the self-employed population keeps growing rapidly.To find out the actual achievements of those policies in Wuxi city at this stage,we did a questionnaire survey among college students in Wuxi and in-depth interviews with college students involving in entrepreneurship.From the data,it can be seen that the tricky problems they are faced with include the flaws in the policy making and implementation.On the one hand,the college graduates have the problems of their own,lacking experience and motivation.On the other hand,the problems come from the outside,including the lack of systematic knowledge,difficulty in financing,the immature cooperating regime of universities and startups,untargeted publicity and so on.A number of aspects need to be taken into consideration to perfect the college graduate entrepreneurship policy.Firstly,the help offered needs to be targeted,especially the help from the professions.Secondly,it is important to widen the channels of financing.Thirdly,the cooperation regime of the colleges and the startups should be more practical.Fourthly,publicity is always a key point to keep people informed and therefore get things done.With better supporting policies,the entrepreneurship environment will be even better in Wuxi city.
