Factors Of Affecting Farmer Household Livelihoods Strategies In Rural Tourism

"Beautiful China" is a wonderful idea of Chinese nation in the modem history of China,and beautiful countryside is the basic unit of the "Beautiful China".In order to build a beautiful China,the first step is to build a beautiful countryside.Under the background of industrial integration,developing rural tourism is not only a new way for countryside development,tourism development and beautiful countryside building,but also a great choice for farmer household getting rid of poverty and becoming rich.Farmer household lives off with its livelihood.So,it is crucial to discuss the context of sustainable tourism livelihoods approach,the factors of livelihood strategies and the decision reference of tourism work for government.This paper discusses the topic from several aspects.First,finding the gap between the research of rural tourism and sustainable livelihood according to the literature,and getting the pointcut about livelihood strategy in the context of rural tourism.Then,contrasting the scope and theoretical contents of SLA with STLA,and analyzing the relationship between livelihood strategy and livelihood capital,vulnerability context,transforming structures and livelihood result in the different context.Then,building a model of livelihood strategy influenced by internal factors and external factors in the context of rural tourism,and confirming the measuring indicators.Finally,analyzing the factors that influence farmer’s will to take part in the activities of tourism by Binary Logistic Analysis,with a case study of Xucun Village in Shanxi Province.And it provides references and suggestions for government of decision-making about tourism development.Through theoretical and empirical studies,it is found some results.(1)There are some differences between SLA and STLA about the emphasis of sustainable development,the source of livelihood activities and the influence of farmer’s livelihood choice.There is a common point in the two frames:livelihood strategy is a key part that contacts with others.(2)In the context of rural tourism,farmer’s livelihood strategy is influenced by the internal factors including human capital,natural capital,social capital,economic capital and institutional capital.At the same time,it is influenced by the external factors,such as the feature of tourism,opportunities around the countryside,disasters and so on.(3)According to the empirical study about Xucun Village,it is found that the results agree with the hypotheses.The human capital,social capital,economic capital and institutional capital influence farmer’s livelihood strategy positively,but the natural capital influences the strategy negatively.(4)Some factors influence farmer’s livelihood strategy differently in the different context,such as the quality and quantity of household labor,the actual agricultural acreage of farmer household,the financial and technology support from social network and institutional capital.The government should determine the priorities and key point in the work according to the condition of farmer’s livelihood in the context of rural tourism.In a word,it is discussed the theory and practice of the sustainable livelihoods approach(STLA)in the context of rural tourism in this paper.It reviews the subject of farmer household sustainable livelihood,enriches the theoretical content and methods.It will contribute to the reasonable utilization of resources,optimization of livelihood structure,and it will promote the sustainable development of countryside and tourism.
