HPM short pulse radar uses HPM(High-Power Microwave)signal as transmitting signal,because of the short pulse and high peak power of HPM signal,this kind of radar has a high range resolution and strong detection ability,and has a very broad development prospects in civil or national defense.Compared with conventional radar,the best detection result can't be obtained by using the conventional transmission signal model,target echo model and target detection method.This paper studies the problems of signal modeling and target detection method,which encountered by HPM short pulse radar in signal processing.Firstly,the signal model construction and target signal detection of conventional radar are studied and analyzed,and the inappropriateness of conventional radar signal processing technology in HPM short pulse radar is clarified.We analysis the envelope,phase and time-frequency characteristics of HPM signal,and propose the reconstniction method for HPM signal*The envelope fitting model is constructed by Gauss multimodal model,and the phase fitting model is constructed by polynomial model.Then,we can obtain the pulse modulation model of HPM signal by combining the two models.The simulation results show that the method can effectively reconstruct HPM signal.Secondly,the scattering center model,the cross-section model of the scattering center and the attitude change of the target are studied,and the target echo model of this kind of radar is constructed by the multi-point model.In this paper,several common clutter models are also simulated,and good simulation results are obtained.Finally,this paper studies the target signal detection method for HPM short pulse radar.Through research and analysis,it is known that the matched filter of conventional radar is no longer the best detector for this new type of radar.In order to effectively Litilize the echo energy in all range resolution units of this kind of radar,this paper proposes a random parameter pulse train method for the target detection of this kind of radar.And we verify the validity of this detection method by simulation in Matlab.Compared with the conventional detection method,this method improves the detection performance.
