Ancient Chinese private collection is an important part of Chinese collection culture.Most of the existing studies on private collections are about the personal history of the collector,the collection topics of a certain region or person,and the literature compilation of historical materials of the collection.They are only a detailed summary of the contents and characteristics of private collections in different regions and times.From the perspective of culture,this paper makes a comprehensive and systematic study of ancient Chinese private books collection in five parts.As the main body of book collecting culture,this paper first expounds the meaning and types of book collecting,and further explains the formation and development of the unique cultural phenomenon of book collecting family.Secondly,this paper gives an overview of the ancient private collection activities,and analyzes the social culture contained in the private collection activities from the following aspects: the source of private collection(transcription,purchase,family inheritance,and donation),the management of private collection(literature collection,literature utilization),and the naming and function of the library.Again on the ancient private collection has carried on the brief overview of the development process,and the literature thought of private bibliophile from "writing carry doctrine" on the view of ontology,"classics priority" on the view of rank,"all is inferior,but the study of" the values and concept of "governing the use of" four aspects explains the profound influence of bibliophile collection activities.In the end,this paper discusses the preservation,dissemination and promotion of academic research of ancient ancient books by private collectors in order to explore the development and cultural contribution of ancient private collections in China.
