Because of wide available frequency bandwidth,short wavelength and strong penetrability,millimeter-wave frequency band has a wide range of applications including automotive radars and the fifth generation(5G)of mobile communication systems.As an important part of these systems,millimeter-wave antenna can significantly affect the system performance.This paper focuses on the millimeter-wave transmission line called DSGWG(Double-Sided Gap Waveguide)and the ME(Magneto-Electric)Dipole Antenna antenna with wide band and high gain performance.The main innovations can be summarized as follows:1.The DSGWG transmission line based on GWG(gap waveguide)is proposed for millimeter-wave applications.By establishing the equivalent circuit model and calculating transmission matrix,the transmission principle of DSGWG is analyzed and two characteristics are pointed out,including the high impedance and "virtual ground".In addition,compact transitions between DSGWG and other transmission lines are designed with wide-band and low-loss performance.The insertion losses of the waveguide,transition and DSGWG are measured and analyzed,which can prove the good transmission performance of DSGWG in millimeter-wave band.2.An end-fire antenna with wide-band,high-gain and low cross-polarized performance is realized by applying DSGWG to the ME dipole antenna design.Two DSGWG fed ME antenna elements are proposed using PCB(printed circuit board)and all-metal processing technology respectively.By tuning different antenna parameters to analyze the radiating performance,the design criteria of the proposed antenna is given.The experimental results show that the proposed ME antenna made of metal obtains excellent performance,including the maximum gain of 9.8 dBi and the working bandwith of 26.6%from 85 to 110 GHz with gain fluctuation below 3 dB.In order to improve the antenna performance further,a low-loss feed network based on DSGWG is designed to feed the ME antenna array.In order to achieve amplitude weighting,unequal power dividers based on DSGWG are designed and the sidelobe of the antenna array is reduced.
