High gain millimeter wave planar antenna arrays is one of the key components of the high speed millimeter wave wireless communication system in the future for its low profile and easy to be integrated.However,Narrow bandwidth,high insertion loss and high fabricating cost are the three key problems in the traditional millimeter wave antenna arrays.To deal with them,in this thesis,a millimeter wave substrate integrated waveguide feed magnetoelectric dipole antenna array with broadband and high gain is designed based on the combination of electromagnetic full wave simulation and experimental verification.The designed antenna array can be realized by low cost printed circuit board processing and has good research and application value.The main innovations and works of this dissertation are summarized as follows:1.Based on the TRL method,the transmission loss of macrostrip line,substrate integrated waveguide and substrate integrated air filled waveguide have been analyzed.Moreover,a set of substrate integrated air filled waveguides fabricated by low cost PCB technology has been tested,contrasted and analyzed.These provide a theoretical basis for the low loss antenna array feed network.2.A novel aperture coupled ME-dipole that can be integrated into a single laminate has been designed.The antenna shows characteristics of wide bandwidth and stable radiation pattern.A 2×4 subarray feed network and a parallel main feed network are designed by using substrate integrated waveguide and substrate integrated air filled waveguide respectively.In this design,the dielectric loss of the traditional substrate integrated waveguide feed network is effectively reduced without increasing the complexity of the feed network,thereby enhancing the efficiency and gain of large-scale antenna arrays.The interconnection structure between the broadband main feed network and the sub feed network and the transition of standard feed waveguide to substrate integrated air filled waveguide is designed by using coupling aperture.3.Based on the proposed broad band structure,8×8-elements millimeter wave wideband and high gain magneto-electric dipole antenna arrays are designed for E-band(71 GHz-86 GHz).In addition,8×8 and 16×16 arrays have been fabricated in Ka-band.(26.5 GHz-40 GHz).The measured results are well matched with the simulated results.
