Nowadays, with the rapid development of technology, the Internet and digitization have penetrated into every aspect of our daily life. The changes in this technological context are dramatically reconstructing the society and rewriting history, tradition, and collective memory. It can be said that with influences of Internet empowerment, the elite's monopoly on the awakening, retelling and creation of collective memory is weakened, and the identity of the public as a collective memory producer and writer becomes possible. It is especially worth noting that the online collaborative encyclopedia platform is a typical representative of knowledge production and participatory culture in the web2.0 age.Its organizational form and editing rules make it possible to write collective memory online. And online encyclopedia can also become an effective object for studying the formation of online collective memory. So what is the collective memory produced by the masses in the online encyclopedia platform? What kind of writing mechanism does it have? What are the differences in different cultures? These are the focus of this dissertation. In order to make the problem more specific, this paper attempts to select a certain type of event as the entry point, and previous studies have shown that trauma as a cultural process is closely related to the formation of collective memory.Furthermore, for the selection of the online encyclopedia platform, after comprehensively considering the influence of the encyclopedia platform in China and its global perspective, the English Wikipedia,Chinese Wikipedia, and Baidu Baike were selected. Therefore, from the perspective of cross-cultural comparison, this article takes the traumatic event as the entry point, and analyzes the online writing of collective memory in the encyclopedia platform. The composition structure of the online encyclopedia platform can be divided into "front area","middle area" and "back area",corresponding to the article, the edit history and the talk page.Based on this stucture, firstly, comparing the memory in the online encyclopedia from the front area in order to solve what to remember;secondly, comparing the memory mechanism in the online encyclopedia from the middle area and the back area,in order to solve how to remember;thirdly, explaining the results above from the perspective of cross-cultural to solve the problem of memory attribution. The study found that cultural identity and cultural prejudice are the reasons why different language editors present differences in traumatic memory texts and writing mechanisms based on the division of different language cultures.Among them, the Chinese Wikipedia and Baidu Baike presented a subject position, with a stronger sense of identity and emotional support;the English Wikipedia presented a perspective from the other,as well as the cultural prejudice against China.Based on the differences of different community cultures,to some extent, the differences in cultural contexts and platform mechanisms explain the differences in the textual level of traumatic events between Wikipedia and Baidu Baike.Among them,Wikipedia tries to present negative information in traumatic events with a "problem-type" memory framework, and Baidu Baike tries to highlight positive information in traumatic events with a "result-type" memory framework that emphasizes the resolution of problems.Wikipedia is rooted in a broad global context where editors constitute a mixed bag of political ideas and cultural backgrounds;Baidu Baike has grown in the context of China,so its construction of memory discourse is more positive and can represent the voice from China. As a result,Wikipedia and Baidu Baike presented completely different memories.
