The existence of fake plate vehicles seriously disturbs the order of traffic management and brings great harm to the society.In the traffic management,the identification of fake plate vehicles has always been a very important task.However,at present,the domestic inspection of the fake plate vehicles mainly depends on the manual investigation by the traffic police and the public tip-offs.The automatic identification of the fake plate vehicles has not been realized.Based on this background,a set of automatic identification system for fake plate vehicles based on image processing is designed in this paper.The system mainly contains four modules:(1)The vehicle information library module:It saves the license plate number,vehicle body color,vehicle logo,style and original vehicle image of the real car.(2)The license plate recognition module:The license plate positioning is accomplished by combining the color features and texture features of the license plate.The license plate characters are recognized by BP neural network.(3)The vehicle appearance recognition module:The identification of grille and car light strips is realized by feature matching method.The body color is identified by using the adjusted HSV color quantization template.The recognition of the vehicle logo is achieved by combining histogram of oriented gradient and BP neural network.(4)The comprehensive comparison module:Comparing the appearance characteristics of the vehicle to be inspected with the appearance characteristics of the vehicle corresponding to the license plate number in the vehicle information library to identify the fake plate vehicle.A complete automatic identification system for fake plate vehicles has been built under Visual Studio 2010 programming software and OpenCV 2.4.9 environment in this paper.The system integration test has been completed.Test results show that the system meets design expectations.
