Research On Key Methods For Practical Vehicle License Plate Recognition System

This paper pays attention to several key parts to practical license-plate recognition system, bring forward several practical methods in license-plate location, a practical plate remediation algorithm, does research in characters segmenting and recognition, and introduces soft system of License Plate Recognition.This paper first apply wavelet transform to decompose the image to get the the vertical details, then reconstruct the image by denoised vertical details , and do car plate locating in such a image. At the meantime it also do car plate locating by several edge detection methods. This paper do a lot of researches in real-time car plate location methods and fast car plate gradient correcting .This paper also apply mathematical morphology to segment the car plate and do research in character recognition by BP algorithm.Finally, the paper introduces the software design in the car plate recognition system.
