Discipline plays an important role in maintaining the order of school education and teaching and promoting the healthy development of students’ body and mind.However,it is undeniable that under the influence of the wrong educational concepts such as instrumental rationality,power began to infiltrate into the operation of school discipline,which made school discipline become more and more alien power to restrain and control students’ growth and development.Using Foucault’s discipline theory to analyze the alienation of school discipline has important theoretical value and practical significance for dispelling the alienation of school discipline and making discipline return to its original state.Foucault inherited Nietzsche’s academic critical spirit of “revaluation of all values”,and deepened Nietzsche’s relevant research on power relations.He used the research method of genealogy to make an in-depth discussion on the power issue by expounding three punishment modes in French history: monarch punishment,symbol technology punishment and institutionalized punishment.In Foucault’s view,the power of discipline exerts restraint on the body through discipline,and maintains its operation by means of three kinds of discipline means: hierarchical monitoring,standardized adjudication and inspection.The power operation mechanism of panoramic openness provides a guarantee for the lighter,faster and effective implementation of discipline power.With the prevalence of managerialism,school discipline is dissimilated into a discipline mechanism to control and restrain the development of students’ psychology and body.Discipline uses the technology of dominating space,time and activities in the school field,and forms the “tame subject” by setting standards,practicing individuals and internalizing standards.The “student subject” produced under the unified standard of school discipline is actually the “obedient object” tamed by the discipline power.Using Foucault’s discipline theory to analyze the alienation of school discipline,we find that the main reasons for the alienation of school discipline include: first,under the guidance of the concept of discipline of instrumental rationality,discipline goes beyond the limits of norms,and constantly suppresses the free space,thus gradually moving towards the opposite of student development;second,the educator mistakenly positions himself as the role of the disciplinarian,and mistakenly regards the students as an objective objects that need to be controlled;the third is the use of three kinds of training means,including hierarchical monitoring,standardized adjudication and inspection and evaluation.The power of training has begun to penetrate into all aspects of the operation of school discipline.To eliminate the alienation of school discipline and reappear the true situation of school discipline,we can start from the following aspects: first,we should abandon the concept of instrumental rational education and get rid of the disciplined mentality of educators;second,we need to use school management power carefully and uphold a reasonable concept of discipline;third,we should strive to seek individual liberation and cultivate free and flexible subjects;finally,we should believe in the existence of students as morality and improve their self-education ability.
