Prosocial behavior is a kind of sharing,helping and cooperating behavior advocated by the society,which is the embodiment of individual socialization and the need of constructing harmonious society.Junior middle school is an important stage connecting primary school and senior high school,which plays a link between the preceding and the following.The purpose of this study is to screen the participants of group sandplay intervention and to design a sandplay intervention program to cultivate the prosocial behavior of junior middle school students by investigating the status quo of prosocial behavior and empathy of junior middle school students and analyzing the relationship between prosocial behavior and empathy,finally achieve the goal of improving prosocial behavior of junior high school students.In study 1,390 middle school students were investigated on the status of empathy and prosocial behavior by using interpersonal response indicator questionnaire and prosocial behavior questionnaire,analysis on the relationship between empathy and prosocial behavior of junior middle school students.In the second study,10 students with high scores and 10 students with low scores in prosocial behavior and empathy were selected from the first study,and 20 students were divided into A and B groups,two students in each group had higher scores in prosocial behavior measurement,and three students had lower scores.Group A was the experimental group,which underwent structured group sand table intervention for nine times.Group B was the control group,which did not do any intervention.By testing the difference of prosocial behavior scores of the experimental group students before and after the structured group sandplay intervention,the effectiveness of the structured group sand table intervention program designed in this study on improving prosocial behavior of junior high school studentswas verified.The findings are as follows:Study 1: There was significant positive correlation between empathy and prosocial behavior of junior high school students,and the students with high empathy ability also had high level of prosocial behavior.The results of regression analysis showed that empathy significantly predicted prosocial behavior.Study 2: Group sandplay intervention can effectively improve students’ empathy ability,through improving empathy ability to achieve the improvement of students’ prosocial behavior level.Before and after the intervention,the experimental group students have significant differences in empathy and prosocial behavior,there was no difference between the control group before and after the test at the same time.The results show that group sand table intervention can significantly improve students’ level of empathy and prosocial behavior.
