| Prosocial behavior is a key factor in establishing reciprocal social relationships,and it is strongly associated with individuals’ social-emotional functioning and social adjustment.High levels of pro-social behavior can effectively reduce individuals’ feelings of loneliness and bad mood and enhance self-esteem.The development of pro-social behavior is influenced by a combination of family environmental factors as well as individual factors.In order to investigate the possible relationship between sibling relationship,empathy and pro-social behavior among junior high school students and the mechanism of their roles,this study used the Sibling Intimacy Questionnaire,Sibling Conflict Questionnaire,Basic Empathy Scale and Adolescent Pro-Social Behavior Scale to conduct a questionnaire survey on 1023 junior high school students in Guangxi,and used SPSS26.0 to statistically analyze the obtained data and obtained the following Research findings:First,the sibling intimacy,empathy and prosocial behaviors of junior high school students are above the average level,while the sibling conflict of junior high school students is below the average level.Second,there are significant differences in prosocial behaviors of junior high school students in terms of gender,family location and grade.Third,there is a significant positive correlation between sibling intimacy,empathy and prosocial behavior of junior high school students,but there is no significant correlation between sibling conflict and empathy,and there is no significant correlation between sibling conflict and prosocial behavior.Fourth,empathy has a partial mediating effect between sibling intimacy and prosocial behavior of junior high school students,and the mediating effect value is 10.90%.Based on the above research conclusions,the following educational suggestions are put forward:First,parents of families with more than one child should pay more attention to the sibling relationship between their children,treat each child equally,enhance the intimacy between siblings through parent-child interaction,heart-to-heart talk and other forms,and reasonably mediate the conflicts between siblings.Second,school mental health educators and moral educators can promote the development of empathy by setting up empathy-themed mental health education courses or group psychological counseling activities,so as to achieve the purpose of cultivating and intervening prosocial behaviors of junior high school students.Third,school workers can convey the concept of scientific parenting to parents through family education lectures,wechat public account tweets,micro videos and other forms of homeschool co-parenting,and guide parents to scientifically understand and effectively deal with the sibling relationship between multiple children. |
