China's economic development has entered a new era of high-speed growth to high-quality development. The high-quality development lies in the fact that China's growth mode is transformed from human capital accumulation and innovation by the development mode that relies on resources and capital investment.Students' academic performance and creativity are important manifestations of human capital accumulation and innovative talent training. But insufficient human capital caused by large-scale inequalities in the Chinese education system threatens this transition. One of the most visible embodiments of this dearth of human capital is the academic achievement gap between urban and rural populations.Researches show that the academic performance and creative ability of rural students in our country lags far behind that of urban students.Students' personal, school, and family characteristics can affect students' academic performance and creative ability.School bullying is a key casual of this problem.International studies show that students being bullied at school is a global phenomenon. In many countries, rates of bullying are high.In developed countries, the negative consequences of bullying on students have been explored extensively.Being bullied not only has a significantly negative impact on student physic health at the time of bullying, but can also cause school avoidance and poor attendance of bullying victims.Their academic performance will be impacted because they cannot concentrate on their studies.Being bullied at school also leads to psychological problems such as depression and self-esteem,then stifling their creativity levels, even product suicide thoughts. If bullying prevents a large number of students from accessing education,as suggested by the high rates of bullying cited in the previous sentences, then bullying in a given country might be lowering human capital rates as large numbers of students drop behind in school or drop out altogether, because of the negative effects bullying has on creative ability and school participation and engagement. To date, however, most previous studies on the effects of bullying on academic achievement have been carried out in developed countries and them pointed out the harm of student being bullied at school.Only a handful of studies have been conducted in China, especially in rural China, and there is no conclusion about the prevalence and the correlations of bullying victims.Given how high rates of bullying are in other countries, and given the negative effects being bullied has on student mental and physical health as well as social and academic functioning, bullying cannot be overlooked as a potentially large cause of poor academic performance in rural areas. In response to the lack of research on bullying in rural China,we carried out a large-scale cross-sectional study among primary school students in a province of eastern China at May 2015 to analyze the current situation of bullying and the general relationship between being bullied at school, academic performance and creative ability in rural China.Ultimately,we sampled a total of 10,528 students from 286 classes in our 120 sample schools. All data collection was conducted at the end of the school year in May 2015.The data were stratified random sampling method selected 120 rural primary schools,120 school principals,286 Chinese teachers,286 mathematics teachers and 10528 fourth and fifth grade primary school students were surveyed.Based on the basic national conditions in our country, this paper draws on the internationally widely used scales and standardized test scores as the main tools of this survey.By comprehensively using interdisciplinary comprehensive research methods, survey statistical analysis methods and empirical analysis methods for statistical analysis of the data. Our research finds that, firstly, students are bullied in rural Chinese elementary schools at rates is very high.Second, boys, boarders, students with less educated parents, students with poorer family financial status, and students from higher teacher-student ratio schools are more likely to be bullied at school.Thirdly, experiencing frequent bullying has a negative impact on students' academic performance.Fourthly, experiencing frequent bullying has a negative impact on students' creative ability.
