Research On The Introduction Part Of American Junior High School History Textbooks

History textbooks are an important tool in history teaching.An excellent history textbook should have a complete auxiliary system in addition to the text system.introduction is an important part of the auxiliary system.It plays the role of eliciting the content of the text and stimulating students’ interest in learning.At the same time,it is also a good helper for teachers to teach in the classroom.There are many publishing companies and versions of American middle school history textbooks.The main publishing companies are: Glencoe McGraw--Hill,Prentice Hall,and McDougal Littell.The three publishing companies have developed many different versions of history textbooks for readers.The author selected the two editions of "World History" textbooks of McDougal Littell Publishing Company.Because of the special features of the introduction part.The introduction of the two editions of "World History" textbooks is very elaborate,and it’s import is divided into three types,namely unit introduction,chapter introduction and pre-class introduction.Due to the lack of domestic research on the introduction,the topic of this paper is novel.The settings of the unit introduction are well illustrated,and the scenes are substituted and combined with relevant questions,so that the students seem to be in the historical period presented by the unit,which is very interesting.The introduction of chapters begins with a story and a clear focus,combined with the use of the historical timeline,so that students have a preliminary understanding of what is to be learned.The introduction of pre-class forms is diverse,while focusing on the cultivation of students’ ability learning.This article mainly studies and analyzes the units,chapters and introductions of the textbooks of the 06 and 09 editions of "World History".I hope that through the analysis and research of the two versions of the textbook introduction,The preparation and revision of the text books provides a little reference.
