As a part of the physical environment of kindergartens,the theme wall plays a hidden educational role in the development of young children.Through interaction with the theme wall young children can constantly build their own experience and meet their own development needs.Then in kindergartens,how much did children interact with the theme wall?What is the environment of the theme wall that children actually experience?In this study,the objective sampling method was used to select the A kindergarten of a demonstration kindergarten of province in N city of Jiangsu Province.The three large classes,large class A,large class B,and large class C of the A kindergarten were used as the research object.The observation method,the interview method and the case analysis method were used.And each class’s theme wall environment and each children in classes were used as the observation object While according to the principle of voluntariness,a total of eight teachers and 25 children of five classes in A kindergarten were interviewed.Based on the analysis of research data,the author also put forward some suggestions and reflections.The research shows that:(1)The interaction frequency of all the children in the same class participating in the theme wall is low,and the differences in different classes are obvious;(2)The interaction behavior occurs in the low control period,and the overall duration is short and the distribution is more concentrated;(3)The main way of interaction is to watch the theme wall;(4)The content of the interaction is rich,with children’s attention to self-work,game and imitation,knowledge,words,and patterns;(5)Unequal opportunities for interaction;(6)The purpose of interaction is not obvious,and haphazard exist;(7)The interaction is vulnerable to interference;(8)There is no supportive environment for interaction.At the same time,this study also analyzes the five major factors affecting the interaction of young children and the theme wall-spatial location,time,characteristics of the theme wall itself,children’s participation and interests and teachers’ concepts and actions.Finally,this study attempts to propose some suggestions for promoting interaction between children and the theme wall environment:(1)The theme wall should be located where all children come and go frequently and freely;(2)Teachers should give children enough free time;(3)Teachers should respect children’s interests and increase children’s participation;(4)Teachers should strengthen support and guidance children,and create a supportive interactive environment. |
