With the continuous advancement of the modern school system, parents'participation in school management is also gradually evolving in educational practice. However, compared with the mature implementation results of western,China's School Management Research started late, based on shallow and theoretical research is not sufficient, there are also many problems and contradictions in practice. As one of the many problems,Boundary of participation's problem performed the lack of participation and over-participation in practice. And with the gradual deepening of the participation of parents, become the focus of attention of both parents and school. This research is aimed at discussing the boundary problem existing in the reality and its manifestations through field research at school and working out a common decision-making model based on the school's characteristics which is applicable for parents to participate in the management of the school, combined with the traditional joint decision-making model,so as to provide guiding ideas for taking actions and practical solutions to address this problem. As the object of the study,W School is a public junior high school, which keeps promoting parents' participation in the school's management. It has been found in the field investigation that the boundary problem of parents' participation does exist in the process of w School promoting parents' participation in the school's management.Because of the vague understanding of the parent's participation boundary by the school and the parent, especially school managers, problems of over-participation and lack of participation by parents appeared in the school's management.Parents'over-participation in the content and forms have created greater pressure on teachers and made it difficult to carry out routine teaching and management work.At the same time, the school's management has been interfered with and even other parents'interests have been affected. On the other hand, the lack of parents' involvement makes parents' appeals difficult to satisfy, and causes the school's management to tend to appear despotic and lack democratic participation. The two core indicators of interest correlation and skill specialization in the common decision-making model provide an idea to solve the boundary problem of parents participating in school management. After discussing the applicability of the model in the field of parents' participation in school management, based on two core indicators and the basic characteristics of school's public welfare property, service, and susceptibility to external influence, and with promoting students' development as the key objective, the author improved the original model and built common decision-making model based on the characteristics of school, and takes it as a feasible new way to solve the problem.Meanwhile,a two-pronged approach involving both the school and the parent should be taken. After gradually clarifying the boundary of parents' participation based on the actual situation, guiding participation, broadening channels, education of parents and other forms should be used to solve this problem.
