Study On The Types And Characteristics Of Wa Language Word Order

Wa language is divided into three dialects: Parauk Wa,Awa and Vo Wa.Based on my fieldwork and literatures,this thesis adopts the related theory and methodology of language typology to describe Parauk Wa's word order and its features in detail,in order to analyze Parauk Wa's VSO order and SVO order and reveal the implicational universal.Meanwhile,this thesis will discuss the reasons that influence Wa's word order.This thesis contains six chapters:Chapter one is an introduction which involves the research purpose,research values,research subjects,theoretical framework,methodology and literature research of this thesis.The emphasis of chapter one is the research outcomes of language typology.Chapter two main analysis and research the word order of nominal phrases in Wa and decides the valuable parameters in word order typology theory,which are noun and adjective,noun and genitive,noun and demonstrative,noun and classifier phrase,noun and multi-item attributive,appositive phrases,relative clause and core noun respectively so on.Chapter three main analysis and research the word order of verbal phrase and adjective phrase in Wa.The parameters are part of verbs and verb,adjective and verb,adverb and adjective.Chapter four main analysis and research the order types of Wa sentences,mainly describing the order types of declarative sentence,existential sentence,double-object sentence,comparative sentence,interrogative sentence.In addition,the types of constituent order in coordinate construction.Based on the description of word order in chapter two to chapter four,chapter five adopts related modern linguistic theories to generalize the types of word order in Wa.This chapter also analyzes the implicational universal between Wa and VSO and SVO languages.This chapter reveal the complicated relationship of word order in Wa and discusses the restrictive factors of different word order types.Chapter six summarizes the whole thesis.
