Research On The Readability Of Chinese Character Forms In Graphic Design In Contemporary Context

Chinese characters are one of the foundations of Chinese culture,and it carries a heavy history and diverse culture.The formation of Chinese characters has gradually unified after evolutions in different periods,become the Chinese characters we use nowadays.With the development of current technology and modern design,Chinese characters have begun to break the traditions and conventions.Numerous new design concepts have been injected into Chinese characters,making them start to show a more diverse new visual form.From the perspective of modern graphic design,this article studies the readability of Chinese character forms in graphic design and uses actual graphic design works such as posters and publications as entry points to summarize the design methods and readable status of Chinese character forms.With the conclusion,I try to explore the basic relationship between the readable and unreadable states of Chinese characters and the relationship with design.The readability of Chinese characters is a basic attribute,the Chinese character information formed by the three basic elements of the shape,sound,and meaning.However,the form of Chinese characters in graphic design is artistic.The basic three elements are sometimes even discarded in this situation.In this case,the Chinese character form has different degrees of readability,and readable,partially readable,and completely unreadable situations.These different levels of visual experience and the psychological feeling of design work in a readable state are completely different.The design thinking and design methods of graphic design make the shape and readability of Chinese characters change a lot.Studying the readability of Chinese characters helps to find Chinese character design thinking and methods that are different from traditional angles,so that the shape of Chinese characters in graphic design is presented a new vision,break the old "visually readable" one-sided state of Chinese character design,and explore more ways for Chinese character design.
