Culture teaching has been playing an important role in teaching Chinese as a second language in the US.Culture-bound words is the key factor of culture teaching.The reasonability and properness regarding to presentation and distribution of culture-bound words within country-specific Chinese textbook in US will affect directly the class performance of teaching Chinese as a second language.This paper defines the research problem of cultural-bound words and country-specific textbook.Based on this,two typical country-specific Chinese textbooks in US,which are ’Integrated Chinese’ and ’Chinese:Communicating in the Culture’,are used to apply a fully investigate and comparison onto the number,classifications,presentation and translation of culture-bound words by employing statistical and comparative analysis.Result shows that the cultural-bound words of country-specific Chinese textbooks in US perform impressively in areas of usage of intermediate language,usage and presentation of Pinyin,terminology,focusing on student meanwhile need to improve in aspects like number,classification,updating and multiple appearance.Based on the research result,suggestions as well as instructional design are proposed to edition and culture teaching of culture-bound words within country-specific Chinese textbooks in US. |
