In the field of teaching of Chinese as a second language,the use of the medium of instruction in teaching is still controversial.In Ecuador,because of most Chinese teachers have a good level of English skills,and low Spanish skills at the same while,so that some teachers use English as a medium of instruction in addition to Spanish language.As a result,a complementary teaching model of English-Spanish bilingual instruction was formed.This paper will be based on the author’s teaching experience in Ecuador,as well as classroom observation of other teachers.Questionnaires and video recordings were used to investigate the use of the medium of instruction in Chinese classes.The first chapter of this paper is the introductory part.It mainly talks about three aspects:first,introduces the background,purpose and significance of the topic selection;second,the definition and some important concepts;third,the research statuses including domestic and overseas.The second chapter analyzes the use of bilingual medium of instruction in primary Chinese classrooms by two questionnaire,which are one for teachers and one for students.The use of the medium of instruction is viewed from the perspective of both.The third chapter compares the difference between bilingual and monolingual medium of instruction by testing the classroom cases and teaching achievements of two teachers.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the advantages and disadvantages of bilingual medium of instruction by questionnaire surveys and classroom observations.Besides,in this chapter the author arise some useful recommendations based on the experience of her own teaching. |
