As national tourism and cross cultural exchange intensify,more and more foreign tourists choose to visit China.In view of most Chinese tourist attractions have a long history and profound cultural connotations,how to explain historic and cultural connotations to foreign tourists within limited time during interpretation has become a difficulty for tour escort interpreters.This is an escort interpretation report which mainly describes the author's practice experience serving as a tour escort interpreter for a foreign customer of a crafts company in Beijing in July,2019.This report consists of four parts:introduction of interpreting task,description of interpreting process,difficult points and corresponding strategies as well as summary.The author pays more attention to omissions and misinterpretation caused by frequently used proper names and numbers,long and complex sentences and differences among various cultures and puts forward coping methods.In terms of proper names,two methods are given: interpreting by focusing on substantive characteristics and addition.In terms of numbers,two methods are put forward: noting and literal translation accompanied by conversion.In terms of long and complex sentences,the author puts forward two methods that include explanatory interpretation and integration.In terms of cultural differences,the author adopts explanation and supplementation.With these strategies,the information given by the source language can be effectively explained and conveyed to the listener.So the speaker and the listener can better communicate with each other with the help of the interpreter.The purpose of writing this report is to provide reference in tourism interpretation practice.
