A Study Of Long And Complex Sentences In Consecutive Interpretation

During the process of interpretation, interprets are sure to meet with some longand complex sentences. How to perfectly interpret the sentences in a short period oftime becomes a problem in consecutive interpretation. There can be two main strategiesto interpret these long and complex sentences: first, to quickly make a logical analysis;second, to interpret the sentences in a most simple and logical way. Therefore, we canhelp the audience understand the speaker completely. Obviously, a clear logicalthinking is a basic quality of a good interpreter. Also, a clear logic is needed not only inunderstanding and analyzing the sentences but also in taking notes during interpretation.A clear logical note can help interpreters in the process of language transitionaccurately and quickly, so the interpretation is done perfectly. This dissertation focuseson logic, and analysis is made with the help of logic both in source languageunderstanding and note taking. At the same time, some practical strategies areintroduced to solve the problems while interpreting long and complex sentences so thatinterpreters’ pressure with the difficulties in interpreting can be released.
