Research On "Wen Xuan Zeng Ding"

The "Xuanxue" in the Ming Dynasty mainly focused on the deletion,commentary and extensive supplements.Among them,the achievements of the extensive supplements were the most outstanding.In recent years,more and more people have begun to pay attention to this part of the research.Compared with other extensive supplements works in the Ming Dynasty,Wenxuanzengding is earliest.The.characteristics of "additional" are distinct,and the relationship with the ancient Chinese movement is more closer,therefore,the Wemuanzengding's feature is more distinct and more representative,so it is chosen as the research object.Because of lack of preface and epilogue for this book,there are handful researchers putting their focus on it.Recently,HaoXingzi,XuJie and LiXiaojuan mentioned this book in their papers as a small part of their study.Based on the previous studies,this paper attempts to conduct a comprehensive and systematic study of Wenxuanzeegding,which is divided into four chapters:The first chapter studies the version of Wenxuanzengding through catalogues and related documents.Because the number of volumes of Wenxuanzengding recorded in the catalogues of different generations is different,we can only analyze them from the two versions still existing in the world.One of the existing version of Wenxuanzengding is Daliang Academy version,and the other is the Jianyang Tongwen Academy version.Both of them are twenty-three volumes.On the basis of previous studies,there are summaries on the lifetime of the author of the Wenxuanzengding.Li Mengyang's family can be traced back to his great-grandfather,Li Mengyang's great-grandfather Li En entered the Wang Ju's family in Henan Fugou,changed their family name as Wang,then moved to Qingyang with Wang Ju.When Li Mengyang's father Li Zheng became an offical,they recovered their family name Li.Li Mengyang was a man who was too honest to be framed and imprisoned.He was imprisoned five times in his life.In 1514,after exemption from government,he was no longer an official anynore.The second chapter analyzes the compilation of Wenxuanzengding from the literal form.According to the situation of literal form changes,this study is divided into three parts:Sao,Poetry and Prose.The prose category includes twenty-nine styles after poetry.It is mainly explored in orders and assorting thoughts,and so on.The third chapter simply combs the author's works supplelented by Li Mengyang's Wenxuanzengding,and further analyzes and summarizes the characteristics of Li Mengyang's supplements from the aspects of inclusion standards,dynasty distribution,style of works and works of special writers.On the basis of the original works of Wenxuan,Wenxuanzengding has been added by fifty-four articles,includes a total of eight hundred and one works.The characteristics of its additions are as follows;firstly,following the inclusion criteria of Wenxuan,adding graceful and serious works with both content and form;secondly,it embodies strong retro thought,admiring the works of the Han Dynasties;thirdly,attaching importance to Sao and works with Sao's characteristics;Fourthly,the addition of female writers and works,especially female writers in the Lienvzhuan;fifthly,including controversial works.The fourth chapter summarizes the inheritance and change of Li Mengyang's Wenxuanzengding to the original code of Wenxuan from two aspects:editing style and compiling thought.And it analyzes the value and deficiency of the Wenxuanzengding.As Wenxuanzengding the is the first supple:ent of Wenxuan in the Ming Dynasty,and Li Mengyang was the leader of the "early seven scholars",who strongly advocated the ancient Chinese movement.The value of this book cannot be ignored.It is an important material for studying the "Xuanxue",as well as studing Li Mengyang and the ancient Chinese movement in the Ming Dynasty.The added articles are excellent works with both content and form,and have important reference value for offsprings to sort out poetry and prose.Although the "Wenxuanzengding has its unique value,it also has its shortcomings.For example,the Beishanyiwen was removed from the Shu category,and it was put together with Sima Xiangru's Fengshanwen and Ban Gu's Dianyin.It is classified as Wen,and its properness is debatable;the supplementary works are biased towards poetry and are very unbalanced;Both the Daliang Academy version and the Jianyang Tongwen Academy version all have marking errors.
