A Study On The Difficulties In Oral Expression Of Students At The Confucius Institute In Zimbabwe

due to economic growth of China,Chinese Language has spread globally resulting to many countries recognizing it as the most prominent language to be learned in schools.According to research about 55 percent of people in the world can speak Chinese.A few years back many Zimbabwean have put on a research on why Zimbabwean students have difficulties in expressing themselves in Chinese and why it is difficulty for them to learn,although the people who put on that research achieved to a lesser extent they found some valid reasons for example Chinese language and grammar has its own characteristics,Chinese as a tonal language it uses tones and characters to express its meaning,same characters but has two different meanings for example"东西"dongxi,dong-xi only tones can specify its difference,hence according to Zimbabwean students language is very difficult to master because our language does not have tones and characters,we only use American alphabet as a result student feel like Chinese is very difficult to master,Furthermore at Zimbabwe Confucius Institute this is a very pressing matter that need implementation of many ideas and finding solutions to solve this problems at hand,Because the environment does not suit the learning of a second language so they is a need to create a good or better Chinese environment,students are not cherishing the opportunity of learning Chinese as a Second Language,so they is need of encouraging students to cherish this opportunity.Teachers are not also using many methods in class that will unable students to express themselves in class,so they is a need for Teachers to change their teaching methods for the benefit of students.They should implement many activities like Chinese Corner,Chinese debate.
