This article is mainly based on "New realism novels" such as Tapu,"New Historical novels" such as Guxiang Xiangchu Liuchuan,“Talking novels” such as Someone To Talk To.On the basis of Lu Xun's "May 4th" literary ideas and writers' works, this paper discusses from the aspects of language style, discourse stand, narrative art,and critical color, etc. To find out the contemporary writer Liu Zhenyun's development of the May 4th New Literary tradition in the new period. The introduction mainly introduces the publishing situation of Liu Zhenyun's works, the current research situation at home and abroad, the significance and research methods of the thesis selection, etc. What's more,we analyze and define the "May 4th New Literary tradition" emphatically. The first chapter looks at Liu Zhenyun's development of the May 4th New Literary tradition from the perspective of language style. In this chapter,we study the language style and analyze the language characteristics of Liu Zhenyun's works. We find that the language features of Liu Zhenyun's works have been innovated while inheriting the tradition. The innovation is mainly reflected in the "funny sketch","winding" and “defamiliarization”,the intangible irony and so on.The second chapter discusses the discourse stand of Liu Zhenyun's novels.Through the analysis of previous studies,we will find that the May 4th writters play the role of "enlightener" and writes "the life of the common people" from the angle of view and mentality of the elite. On the contrary,Liu Zhenyun's novels mostly write the life of the common people from the perspective and perception of the common people.Firstly,on the surface of the novel text,we can easily find that Liu Zhenyun has written a lot of folk elements such as folk language, folk scene, folk image and so on.Secondly, from the perspective of creation,Liu Zhenyun's novel has obvious characteristics of "folk".Liu Zhenyun uses "folk thinking" to explain life and deconstruct history from the perspective of "folk",which not only makes peasants talk about peasants. And let the events develop with the logic of farmers' thinking."Chance "," Practical Reason "," Loving Kinship "," Stubborn" are the embodimentof Liu Zhenyun's novel characters' thought and the motive force of the development of the event. The third chapter is the continuation of the second chapter, mainly analyzes the narrative art and narrative strategy under the guidance of folk wisdom. The "Pen Kong" style of writing,"winding" narrative strategy is the unique features of Liu Zhenyun's novel creation, but also the innovation of traditional narrative techniques. The art of "Pen Kong" makes Liu Zhenyun's novel structure novel interesting."Winding" narrative makes Liu Zhenyun's novels see strange in the flat, and rich in meaning. The fourth chapter compares the differences between Liu Zhenyun and Lu Xun from the tone of criticism.Almost all Lu Xun's novels are "cold" and "desolate".Liu Zhenyun,on the basis of inheriting Lu Xun's critical spirit and humanitarianism, has turned from cold to warm in his critical tone(especially in the novel of the new century). With the help of existentialism theory, this chapter discusses "warm tone" in Liu Zhenyun's novel creation from two dimensions: dilemma and redemption and alienation and truth. The conclusion will be summarized and deepened on the basis of the first four chapters, reaffirming Liu Zhenyun's development of the new literary tradition of the May 4th Movement, with a view to arousing scholars' reflection on the relationship between contemporary writers' creation and the tradition of new literature,as well as on the issue of the "classics" of contemporary literature. And triggered a reflection on the May 4th Movement.
