Simulated Simultaneous Interpretation Practice Report With English Commentary On Table Tennis Match

In recent years,sports in China has been developing rapidly,athletes are actively participating in various international sports events,and sports fans are also more interested in international sports competitions,so the demand for sports translation has been increasing.The simultaneous interpretation of sports commentaries is difficult because of its high specialization level.This report takes the simultaneous commentary interpretation of 2018 Table-tennis World Tour on the Bulgaria Open Man’s Singles Final as an example to explain the interpretation process through analyzing the problems of misinterpretation,missing translation and inappropriate pauses in practice.After expounding the causes that lead to inappropriate interpretation such as the professional vocabularies,the fast speed of commentary,the interference of video and other factors,the report explains in details the strategies that may help to produce better interpretation.Those strategies mainly include pre-interpretation preparation,interpretation skills and effort coordination.As the basis of simultaneous interpreting,pre-interpretation preparation is the significant strategy to memorize vocabulary.Interpretation skills are discussed,namely prediction,omission,merging sentence and syntactic linearity.Effort coordination needs to concentrate on the key information and ignore useless and secondary information.In the last part of the report a reflection is made to provide help and reference for future study and practice.
