As The Power Of Existence

This article is to talk about the understanding of the virtue of fortitudo(thumos)on the view of onotology/Dasein,which is less talked but has great significance on human being.In consideration of the meaning of thumos in ancient Greek,we call thumos fortitude which is from Spinoza to exhibit its significance on being.This article is based on Nicomachean Ethics of Aristotle,especially chapters of thumos,and combined with Plato's discussion of thumos like Republic and Laches and The Courage to Be of Tillich.By reference to these,the article takes the interpretation and analysis of Aristotle's fortitudo which is one of phronesis as clue,and is based on ontology/Dasein,to talk about its significance on human existence and our times,to talk about the ethical significance of practical philosophy.According to the purpose,this article includes two parts.One is a summary of Aristotle's context of fortitudo,and an explanation of his meaning of true courage with Plato's relative context.Another is an analysis of Aristotle's fortitudo in the view of ontology/Dasein to point out its significance on human existence,including Aristotle's context of Metaphysics and Physics.The view of ontology/Dasein in the article is not only the abstract,speculative and categorized theoretical concept,but the being in practical field with actions and praxis,though the latter still needs to be based on the former.In this way,the view of ontology is not the ideal and metaphysical concept,but the ethical concept of practical life.On some degree,we can call the view of ontology Heidegerr's Dasein.Actually,the article was supposed to include the third part about the discussion of changes of the meaning of courage and reasons of its changes to find time's problem(s)in contemporary.However,for these changes are so great and its reasons are so complex and the length,we have to give up this part temporarily.To have a better understanding of why the article chose the view of ontology/Dasein to talk about fortitudo and its meaning,to have a better reflection of Aristotle's fortitudo's significance on contemporary problem(s),to exhibit his fortitudo's strength of being,we have to set a simple transition about the relationship of Ethics and Metaphysics between the first and second part,and it's the accepted premise of the article.
