With the increasingly exchanges between China and Thailand,more and more Thai schools have launched Chinese classes from kindergarten to university,and Chinese other than English has become a foreign language for Thai students.At present,there are many studies on Thai Chinese teaching materials.However,the research on Chinese teaching materials is not very sufficient.Therefore,the author makes use of the opportunity of serving as a Chinese teacher in Rayong vocational school in Thailand to study the situation of Chinese teaching materials.Based on the characteristics of teaching materials and the feedback of teachers and students in the use of teaching materials,this paper puts forward some suggestions for the optimal use of teaching materials.The thesis is mainly divided into four parts:The first part is the research foundation.First,this paper briefly introduces the Chinese teaching situation of three vocational schools in Rayong province.By reading the relevant literatures,it is found that most scholars’ research on Thai Chinese teaching materials mainly focuses on the compilation of teaching materials,and the research on the use of it is far and few between.Therefore,this paper attempts to take Rayong province as an example to study the situation of Chinese teaching materials in Thai vocational schools.The second part introduces the use of Chinese teaching materials in three vocational schools in Rayong province.The current teaching materials of three vocational schools are only the local teaching materials Chinese for Communication and the general teaching material Happy Chinese.The author analyzes the characteristics of the two teaching materials from the writing style and writing content.In the third part,a questionnaire was conducted on the use of Chinese teaching materials in three vocational schools in Rayong province.The author understands their evaluation of the overall situation of teaching materials and the evaluation of the various parts of vocabulary,text,exercises and culture,and finally carry out statistical analysis of the results of the questionnaire from the aspects of teachers and students.combined with the results of the questionnaire and the author’s 9-month teaching experience,the author summarizes the problems existing in the use of Chinese teaching materials in Rayong vocational schools.The applicability of the textbooks is low;students lack a sufficient number of teaching materials,and teachers completely copy teaching materials or use of self-compiled teaching materials.the transformation of teaching materials on the processing is too mechanical.the teachingmaterial capacity does not conform to the arrangement of school hours,and so on.The fourth part,puts forward some suggestions on the problems presented.First of all,from the school level,formulate a unified syllabus to guide the use of teaching materials,improve teaching resources,strengthen the evaluation of the use of teaching materials and close cooperation with China.Second,from the teacher’s transformation and use of teaching materials,teachers should properly add and delete and recoganize the text,and adopt effective teaching methods.Finally,from the preparation of teaching materials,the content of vocabulary,text,exercises and culture should be improved to combine with the actual situation of Thai students.
