The influence of social comparison direction and individual's level of implicit self-esteem on Mate Copying was investigated through experimental methods. In this study,128 subjects were selected by using convenient sampling methods. After pre-experiment,the experimental materials and the selection of the subjects were completed. In the first study,we used the 2(the direction of social comparison:upward social comparison, downward social comparison)×2(the willingness of the model to mate to the target:Willingness,Rejection)×2(gender:male,female)mixed experimental design with the difference between the pre-test and post-test of targets' attraction values as the dependent variable. This paper discussed the influence of the direction of social comparison on Mate copying, and the interaction between it and the model's willingness to choose a mate for the target. The data were described, and the variance analysis of repeated measurement was carried out.And the results were got.The second study was carried out on the basis of the first study. We used the 2(the direction of social comparison:upward social comparison, downward social comparison)×2(the willingness of the model to mate to the target:Willingness,Rejection)×3(The level of implicit self-esteem:high,medium,low)mixed experimental design with the difference between the two measurements of targets' attraction as dependent variables. On the basis of study one,the effects of implicit self-esteem in individual body on Mate copying and the interaction between them and the direction of social comparison between them were discussed. The data were described, and the variance analysis of repeated measurement was carried out.And the results were got.And after analysis and discussion, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The phenomenon of Mate copying occurs in female subjects, and the intensity of Mate copying under Rejection condition(The role model is not interested in the target)is greater than the mate copy intensity under Willingness condition(The role model is interested in the target);while the males adapt the mate strategy opposite to mate duplication, the target rejected by the character scores higher.(2)Mate copying is more likely to occur under the comparative conditions of upward social comparison.(3)At the Rejection level, the intensity of Mate copying under the comparative conditions of the down-stream society is greater than that of the Mate copying under the comparative conditions of the up-stream society.(4)The level of individual implicit self-esteem has no significant effect on Mate copying phenomenon.(5)The influence of social comparisons on Mate copying will not change due to the level of implicit self-esteem in individuals. In a word,it can be seen that on the one hand,Mate Copying is more likely to happen to women, and the impact of different social comparative directions on mate copying is influenced by the specific situation. On the other hand, individuals' levels of implicit self-esteem have no effect on Mate Copying.
