Self-control is of great significance for the long-term development of the individual,the development of self-control is a necessary condition for the individual socialization,has a close relationship with the adaptability of children,is also an important part of the action will,self control failure will lead to many social problems,such as juvenile delinquency,alcohol abuse,cigarette minor major issues of teenage pregnancy etc..This study selected demographic variables,family variables influence students’ inquiry,these variables for self-control at the same time,students in the control of demographic variables and family variables under the condition of students self-control for student achievement,school adaptation,subjective well-being and sense of achievement,the influence degree of confidence,these indicators for important the significance of students’ academic performance and long-term development.In this study,we selected about 16000 teachers and students from 166 schools in Shaanxi,Shanxi,Guizhou,Fujian and Hubei from the investigate "Adream" The Shanghai Adream Foundation,the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Policy Research Center and the Educational Experimental Economics Center of Shaanxi Normal University implemented the project in 2014.In this study,16128 students from grade four and grade seven in rural areas were studied.The scale used in the survey of Psychological Development Characteristics of Chinese Children and Adolescents carried out in Beijing Normal University in 2006.And the self-control ability,school attitude and subjective well-being of students were measured.Students’ academic performance is measured by standardized math test results.The questionnaire has good reliability and validity and is suitable for the target population.Conclusions as followed:1.Student demographic variables level:In all samples,girls’ self-control were significantly higher than that of boys.In fourth grade,girls’ self-control level is higher than that of boys.While in the seven grade,boys and girls in self-control level had no significant difference.Han students’ self-control in all samples is higher than the level of Minority Students.In the fourth grade,the difference between two groups is still significant,while in the seven grade,self-control level has no significant difference in the national level.In all samples,day students’ self-control level was significantly higher than that of students living on campus.But in the fourth grade,boarders’self-control level was significantly higher than that of non-resident students;this difference becomes not significant at the grade of seven.2.Students families’ level:Non single parent family students’ self-control level was significantly higher than that of single parent family students,this difference was significant in the fourth grade,but not significant in seven grade;only children’ self-control level.were higher than those of not only child,and this difference was significant in the fourth grade,but not significant in seven grade.With parents whoever has a educational level more than junior high school,Students have a higher self-control level than those students who has not;differences were all significant in forth grade and seventh grade.With parents who engaged in non-agricultural working,students’ self-control level is higher than those students has not;in the fourth grade,students whose mother engaged in nonagricultural work has higher self-control level than others;in seventh grade,students5 parents’ working type contribute no significant difference to students’ self-control level.3.The level of students’ self-control is positively correlated with the students’score of math scores,which shows students who have higher levels of self-control are also more likely to get higher math scores in their peers,either in grade four or in grade seven.In school attitude,the students’ self-control level has a positively correlated with the school like dimension and learning attitude dimension.It shows that the higher the level of self-control of the students have higher school’s preference and more positive attitude towards learning,which is significant in both the four grade and the seven grade students.In the school avoidance dimension,students those have higher the self-control level have lower degree of school avoidance,which is significant among the students in grade four and grade seven.At the same time,the students’ self-control level has a positively correlated with the students’ subjective well-being index,whether in all samples,or in the samples of grade four and grade seven.The higher the self-control level of the students is,the higher the subjective well-being index is.In addition,the level of self-control of students also has a positively correlated with their self-confidence,and the effect is significant in grade four and grade seven.The higher the self-control level of a student is,the higher the total score of self-confidence is.Self-control also has positively correlated with self-expression dimension.The higher the self-control level,the higher the students’self expression,the more inclined to express their inner,demand,emotion and so on,and more easy to complete the socialization process of the individual.On the dimension of self-efficacy,students’ self-control also has a positively correlation with it.The higher the self-control level of students is,the higher their self-efficacy level is.Students’ self-efficacy can predict students’ self-confidence and mental health level in a certain extent. |
