Self-control is one of the most beneficial characteristics of personality,and it is also a very important aspect of the socialization process of junior middle school students.It is the basis for them to form a good personality,which directly affects their development in learning,life,interpersonal communication and psychological qualities.Low self-control will not only lead to academic procrastination but also affect their academic achievement.Therefore,investigating the current level of middle school students’ self-control skills,researching the connection between self-control,academic procrastination,and academic achievement,and carrying out a group counseling intervention are of theoretical and practical importance.The study is divided into three parts: study1,use the questionnaire method to investigate and analyze the current status quo and characteristics of self-control in a rural junior middle school.Study2,analyze the relationship among self-control,academic procrastination and academic achievement of rural junior middle school students,and develop a relationship model of them.Study 3,carry out an experimental study on the effects of group counseling on improving the self-control ability among rural junior middle school students.The results are as follows:(1)Rural junior middle school students have a medium degree of self-control.The differences in self-control ability are significant in grades,sex,and whether left behind or not.The self-control ability of grade one learners is remarkably higher than that of grade two and grade three students.Girl learners have a higher degree of self-control than boy learners;the self-control ability of left-behind children is remarkably lower than that of non-left-behind children.There is no significant difference in only or non-only children,whether they live in school,whether are class leaders.(2)Self-control,academic procrastination and academic achievement were remarkably correlated with each other.Self-control directly influences academic achievement and also influences academic achievement through the partial mediating effects of academic procrastination.Academic procrastination partially mediated the relationship between self-control and academic achievement.(3)Group counseling can enhance the self-control of rural junior middle school students,as a result,academic procrastination and academic achievement of the individual can be improved timely. |
