With more and more cultural and economic communication around the world,different nations pay more attention to nation's image.Building a good nation's image is important to both nation power and diplomacy.Textbooks are important parts of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and it takes responsible for building China's image.Textbooks instructing China's basic issues,like geography,politics,economies,culture,society.Learning these textbooks,international students are able to know the condition of China directly.The researches of China's image in textbooks instructing China's basic issues are significant,and it will help to build and spread a positive image of China.The author selected three textbooks instructing China's basic issues,and analyzed them from five aspects:geography,politics,economies,culture,and society.The paper concluded different China's image from these books.It also analyzed different methods of building each nation's image from layout and expression.Some problems were found like one-sided expression,lacking of affinity,too much description of the history of China,and awkward expressions.According to the problems existing in the teaching material,the paper proposed recommendations like multi-party voice,transition of goodwill,excavating cultural connotation,and changing expression.
