Background Cough variant asthma is a special type of bronchial asthma. It is characterized by chronic and refractory cough. It usually occurs at night or in the morning. The course of disease lasts more than 8 weeks or even several years, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. In recent years, the incidence rate has been increasing. The social awareness of the disease is low, because it does not have the typical clinical manifestations of asthma,it is easy to be ignored, and the rate of misdiagnosis and mistreatment is high, and some patients eventually develop into asthma. The treatment of CVA in modern medicine is mainly based on inhaled glucocorticoids, bronchodilators, and leukotriene antagonists, but it is easy to repeat after discontinuation and can not achieve the desired effect in a short time.Traditional Chinese medicine has a deep theoretical foundation and rich practical experience in treating cough.Based on the "biological-psycho-social" background, this topic discusses the clinical efficacy of Chaipu Decoction in treating CVA based on the theory of treating respiratory diseases from the liver.Clinical ResearchObjective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Chaipu Decoction in the treatment of CVA patients,to provide clinical verification for the theory of treating CVA from the liver, and to support the improvement of CVA diagnosis and treatment programs.Methods:98 patients diagnosed with cough variant asthma from the Respiratory Department at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine First Affiliated Hospital(Dongzhimen Hospital)from 2018 to 2019 were enrolled in a randomized controlled trial.According to the case selection criteria,90 effective cases were enrolled. They were divided into a observation group and a control group, each with 45 cases. The course of treatment and observation:14 days as a course,a total of 1 course. The observation group was treated with Chaipu Decoction granules orally, and the control group was treated with Montelukast sodium tablets.Results:(1)Baseline Data:There was no significant difference between observation group and the control group in terms of gender, age, course of disease,TCM symptom score, cough symptom score,LCQ score, peripheral blood EOS percentage, and PEF variation rate.(P>0.05).(2)Efficacy Indicators:The total effective rate of improvement in TCM symptoms after treatment in observation group was 95.56%,and the total effective rate after treatment in the control group was 77.77%(P<0.05),the results were.statistically different. The scores of individual TCM symptoms were different on the 7th and 14th days compared with the 1st day. After treatment, the two groups were significantly improved than before the treatment.Compared with the two groups, the observation group was better than the control group. The improvement of cough symptom score,Leicester cough questionnaire score, and PEF mutation rate before and after treatment in observation group and the control group were all different,P<0.05,indicating that both groups had improved;By comparison, the difference in curative effect was statistically significant, indicating that observation group was better than the control group in terms of improvement in cough symptoms,PEF,and quality of life. There was no significant difference in the percentage of peripheral blood EOS between the control group and observation group before and after treatment, and there was no significant difference between groupsConclusion:(1)There were significant differences in TCM symptom scores and cough symptom scores between the observation group and the control group. The observation group was better than the control group in improving TCM symptoms and cough symptoms.(2)The improvement of the LCQ score in the observation group was better than that in the control group, indicating that the observation group was more effective in improving the quality of life of CVA patients.(3)In terms of improvement in PEF mutation rate, the efficacy of the observation group is different from that of the control group. The observation group is better than the control group in improving PEF mutation rate, indicating that the observation group is better than the control group in improving airway function.(4)There was no significant difference in the percentage of eosinophils in the peripheral blood between the observation group and the control group before and after treatment, and there was no significant improvement in the eosinophil count of the peripheral blood in both groups.
