Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of Zheng's No.3 fumigant on postoperative ACL reconstruction in New Zealand rabbits byestablishing a postoperative model of ACL reconstruction and measuring the expression of type I collagen(COL-I)and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)in adhesion tissues after local treatment with Zheng's No.3 fumigant.Methods: 18 healthy adult New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: group A,group B and group C.group A was the experimental group,group B was the saline control group,group C was the model control group,each group had 6 New Zealand rabbits.The ACL reconstruction of the right knee was performed under aseptic condition in all three groups of ABC.Group A was given Zheng's No.3 fumigant to fumigate the right knee joint regularly,and fixed the right knee joint with plaster in the straight position;group B was fumigated the right knee joint with saline regularly,and fixed the right knee joint with plaster in the straight position;group C was only fixed the right knee joint with plaster in the straight position;the dressing was changed regularly,and the blood circulation of the operating limb was observed;4 weeks later,the range of motion(ROM)of all New Zealand rabbits' right knee joint was measured under constant external force.Then three groups of rabbits were killed and the right knee joint was cut along the original incision.The expression of Co L-I and MMP-9 were measured in the adherent tissue.Results: 1.In the comparison between group A and BC,the ROM of New Zealand rabbits' right knee joint in group A was higher than that of BC,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the ROM of New Zealand rabbits' right knee joint in group BC was not significantly different(P>0.05).2.The expression of COL-I related m RNA in the adhesion tissues of New Zealand rabbits in group A was lower than that in group BC,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the expression of COL-I-related m RNA in the adhesion tissues of New Zealand rabbits in group BC was not significantly different(P>0.05).3.The expression of MMP-9 related m RNA in the adhesion tissues of New Zealand rabbits in group A was high than that in group BC,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the expression of MMP-9 related m RNA in the adhesion tissues of New Zealand rabbits in group BC was not significantly different(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Zheng's No.3 fumigant can reduce the expression of Co L-I in New Zealand rabbits' knee joint adhesions;2.Zheng's No.3 fumigant can increase the expression of MMP-9 in New Zealand rabbits' knee joint adhesions;3.Zheng's No.3fumigant can prevent the occurrence of adhesions after ACL reconstruction by affecting the expression of Co L-I and MMP-9.
